HMS Iron Duke was built at Cammell Laird in Portsmouth and Launched on the 12th October 1912. after 1931 she became a Gunnery Training Ship and Base Ship for the Home Fleet between 1939 and 1945. She was scrapped at Faslane in Scotland 19th August 1946.

Compliment 589. Armament 6 13.5 inch Guns (3 x 2 ) and 12 6-inch Guns . Machinery 4-shaft Turbines, S.H.P 31,000 giving a top speed of 21.25 knots this was reduced to 18 knots with mutilated boiler power. . Displacement 21,250 tons, .

HMS BARHAM was build at John Brown shipbuilders, Clydebank and launched 31st December 1914, Took part at Jutland was hit six times and was under repair for 5 weeks. Between the wars. she served in the Mediterranean from 1935 but was attached to the Home Fleet in the autumn of 1939. on the 28th December 1939 she was torpedoed by U-30 and was under repair till April 1940. She took part in the Bombardment of the French fleet at Mers-el-Kebir in July 1940 and the Battle of Cape Matapan in march 1941, also at the Bombardment of Bardia and Tripoli. She was damaged by a 500KG bomb off Crete on the 27th May 1941, and repaired at Alexandria by the end of July 1941. HMS Barham was torpedoed and sunk by U-331 off Soloum on the 25th November 1941. only 396 of her crew were saved from a compliment of 1,258.

Compliment 1,124 to 1,258. Armament 8 15-inch Guns and 12 6-inch guns and 8 4-inch A.A Guns 16 2-pdr AA Guns and 1 aircraft. Speed 24 knots, Displacement 31,100 tons.

HMS Malaya was build by Armstrong Ship Builders, and Launched 18th March 1915. She took part in the Battle of Jutland and sustained eight hits, and took eight weeks for repairs.. During World War Two, she was in the Mediterranean during 1940 and took part in operations against the Italian Fleet. She was also involved in Convoy escort duties of the west African Coast. During these operation she was torpedoed by U-106 on the 20th March 1941. and her repairs were carried out in the USA. from July 1941 to the summer of 1943, she was involved again in Convoy protection on the UK to Malta and Cape Town. to UK, routes. She was scrapped at Faslane in Scotland on the 12th April 1948.

HMS Valiant was build by Fairfield Ship Builders, and launched 4th November 1914. She took part at the battle of Jutland and was not hit. During World War Two, HMS valiant was badly damaged by delayed action mines, set by Italian Frogmen at Alexandria, She made her way to Durdan, South Africa for repairs.

HMS valiant joined the British eastern Fleet in January 1944 and took part in carrier raids against Japanese bases in Indonesia. HMS valiant was badly damaged during refit in a floating dock at Trincomalee, Ceylon, so bad was the damage that repairs were stopped, and she was used as a training hulk for stockers at Devonport. She was scrapped at cairn Ryan and Troon between November 1948 and march 1950. Spec same as above battleships

HMS WARSPITE was built at Devonport, Plymouth and launched 26th November 1913, Took part in the battle of Jutland and sustained 15hits and was close to foundering. at the battle of Narvik in April 1940 HMS Warspite to part in the Battle of cape Matapan and in May 1941 took part in the battle of Crete, where is sustained damage by a heavy bomb hit. on the 16th September during the Landings at Salerno, she was hit by a German Glider bomb, she was towed to Gibraltar for temporary repairs and fully repaired at Rosyth in March 1944. In June 1944 she was deployed at Normandy with only three functioning main Turrets, she also took part in the bombardment of Brest, Le Havre and Walcheren. She was sold for Scrap in early 1947, and during the voyage to the Breakers she ran aground at Mounts Bay, and was broken up in situ over the following five years.

HMS RAMILLIES.

Built at Beardmore and completed at Cammell Laird. HMS Ramillies was launched on the 12th September 1916.. During World War Two HMS Ramillies took part in the bombardment of Bardia, August 18th 1940. She also took part in the Battle of Cape Teudada. On the 7th May 1942 in the bombardment of Diego Saurez (Madagascar) she was torpedoed by Japanese midget submarine on the 30th May 1942. After repairs she took part in the bombardment of German positions during D-Day aswell as bombardment of Southern France She was scrapped at Cairn Ryan on the 23rd April 1948, and finally the scrapping the Ramillies Hull was finished at Troon October 1949

Compliment 1146, Armament 8 15-inch Guns (4 x 2) 12 6-inch guns. 8 4-inch A.A Guns and 16 . 2 pounder AA guns and one aircraft.

Displacement 29,150 tons, Speed 21.5 knots

HMS RESOLUTION, By Ivan Berryman.

Completed in 1916, the Resolution was one of the finest capital ships in the Royal Navy, serving in many theatres with her sister ships, Royal Sovereign, Royal Oak, Ramillies and Revenge, she is shown here in 1936.

Built by Palmers, and launched on the 14th January 1915. During World War, HMS Resolution took part in the bombardment of the French Fleet at Mers-el-Kebir in July 1940, In September she was torpedoed and badly damaged by the French submarine Beveziers. her repairs were carried out in the United States and finished in September 1941. She served in the Indian Ocean but returned home in poor condition and consigned to reserve fleet. She was scrapped at Faslane on the 13th May 1948.

HMS Revenge was initially going to be called HMS Renown. She was built by Vickers and launched on the 29th of May 1915. She was present at the Battle of Jutland during the First World War. She served in the Home fleet and Atlantic escorting 1939-1940. But because of her poor condition she was reduced to the reserve on the 30th September 2943. She served for a while as a depot ship and was scrapped at Inverkeithing 5th September 1948

HMS Royal Sovereign was built by Parsons at Portsmouth and launched 29th May 1915. During World War Two, Royal Sovereign was in the Home fleet during 1939 and Atlantic convoy duty in 1940-1941. Due to her poor condition she spent September 1942 till September 1943 in refit in the United States, after her refit she spent just one month in the Indian Ocean and then returned home She went into reserve, but was loaned to the USSR (becoming the Archangels). She sailed for Mumansk on Convoy duty on the 17th August 1944. and returned to Rosyth in 1949 and scrapped at Inverkeithing.

TO BE RELEASED SEPTEMBER 2000.

HMS Repulse was built at Clydebank by John Brown, and launched on 8th January 1916 . She saw action in the First World war on the 17 November 1917 at Heligoland Bight (a sortie by British battlescruisers.). During World War Two. She operated off Norway in 1940, and on Convoy duty until the summer of 1941. Repulse joined the eastern Fleet in October 1941, arriving at Singapore on the 2nd of December, she sailed with HMS Prince of Wales and four destroyers to attack Japanese naval forces in their landing areas around Malaya. On the 10th December both the repulse and Prince of Wales were attacked by 80 Japanese aircraft and were sunk, HMS Repulse being hit by a Torpedo and sunk at 1233 hours, after being hit by a further 4 hits.

HMS Hood. Built at Clydebank and launched on the 22nd August 1918. The pride of the Royal Navy. In the autumn of 1939 she operated in the North Sea, and it was here she was attacked by JU88,s and one bomb hit HMS Hood, but it failed to explode and only caused minor damage. HMS Hood took part in the bombardment of Mers-el-Kibir on the 3rd July 1940. In company with HMS Prince of Wales, HMS Hood engaged the German Battleship Bismarck and the Heavy Cruiser Prinz Eugen. in the Denmark Straits, 24thMay 1941. HMS Hood received several heavy hits and blew up and sank quickly, only 3 of her crew survived... Displacement 42,100 tons, and after modifications, upto 49,140 tons. Speed 31knots, and after modifications 28 knots. Main armament 8 15inch Guns, secondary armament of 12 x 5.5 inch guns

Beyond the 16" guns of 'A' turret, the masts of Admiral Nelson's flagship at Trafalgar, HMS Victory rise into the skyline whilst in the foreground MTB 507 cruises past on its way to the Solent.

HMS Nelson was built by Armstrong and launched in September 1925. During the Second World War, Nelson was in the Home fleet from 1939-1942, and in 1943 she was in Force "H". Nelson was mined off the Scottish coast in December of 1939 and was under repair until June of 1940. Nelson was struck by an Italian aerial torpedo on 27th September 1941 under repair until April 1942. HMS Nelson saw service in he Mediterranean up to 1943, she again saw service off Normandy where she was again mined on 18th June 1944 . Repairs were carried out in Philadelphia, HMS Nelson then saw service in the Indian Ocean in operations off the Malayan coast, returning home in November 1945 she was scrapped on 15 March 1949 at Inverkeithing.

HMS Rodney (Battleship) by Ivan Berryman

HMS Rodney was launched in 1925, like her sister ship the Nelson, Rodney saw action in many theatres, scoring the first hit on the Bismarck among other memorable exploits.

HMS King George IV launched on the 21st February 1939, Served in the Home fleet between 1939 to 1943 during this time took part in the pursuit of Bismarck in May 1941, and operated on the Murmansk Convoy run. operated in 1943 with Force H, In July 1944 ,HMS King George V underwent a long refit, and in the autumn of 1944, went to the Pacific theatre to operate with the US Navy. In 1946 HMS King George V went into Reserve Fleet, and on the 20th January 1958 was scrapped at Dalmuir and Troon.

HMS Prince of Wales, was built by Cammell Laird and launched on the 3rd May 1939. She served with the home fleet during 1940 - 1941, and in company with HMS Hood, engaged the Bismarck and Prinz Eugen on 24th May 1941, but broke of the engagement after receiving damage. She was at Singapore in October 1941, but was sunk of Maylaya, (along with HMS Repulse) by Japanese Torpedo Aircraft on the 10th December 1941.

HMS Vanguard was the last of the great Royal navy battleships, built at Clydebank, she was launched on the 30th November 1944, and did not see service during world War Two, She was the biggest British battleship with a displacement of 42.500 tons. she carried 8 15-inch guns and a secondary armament of 16 x 5.25 inch guns and 71 AA Guns, her compliment was 1600. She finally was scrapped just 15 miles from where she was built at faslane, 9th August 1960.

HMS Duke of York was built at Clydebank and launched of the 28th January 1940, she served most of World war two in the home Fleet, (1940 to 1945) serving of the Murmansk Convoys and also took part in the sinking of the Scharnhorst (German Battlecruiser) on the 26th December 1943, in August 1945 she was transferred to the Pacific to operate against the Japanese. She entered the reserve fleet in 1949 and was Scrapped at faslane, Scotland on the 18th February 1958

HMS Anson, was built by Swan Hunter, and launched on the 24th February 1940, She spent most of her time in the Home Fleet on Convoy Duty on the Murmansk Convoy Route. and was transferred top the Pacific Fleet in September 1945 but was not used, HMS Anson was a Guard ship at Tokyo and saw duty off Australia from January to July 1946. she was scrapped at faslane on the 17th December 1957.

HMS Furious by Ivan Berryman (with HMS Revenge)

Grand Harbour, Malta, April 1932. The R-Class battleship HMS Revenge slips majestically past the carrier HMS Furious as she lies at anchor as three of her Fairey IIIFs fly overhead on a routine training sortie.

HMS Furious, was a former Light battlecruiser, which underwent three major reconstructions finally emerging as a flush decked aircraft carrier. a small "island" superstructure was later fitted. She carrier 33 aircraft . and had a top speed of 30.5 knots. with a displacement of 22,450 tons. HMS Furious served in the Home Fleet during world war two 1939 - 1944. and in Reserve 1944 - 1945 she was scrapped at Dalmuir Scotland 15th March 1948.

The aircraft carrier HMS Eagle is shown with HMS Barham between the wars at Malta, both of these ships were sunk by U-Boat attacks during World war Two.

HMS Eagle was built at Clydebank, and was launched on the 8th pf June 1918, a former Battleship construction suspended in 1914. during world war two HMS Eagle served off China in 1939, East Indies 1939 - 1940, Mediterranean in 1940 - 1941. and in the South Atlantic 1941 - 1942 and Force H in 1942, she was sunk by U-73, North of Algiers on the 11th August 1942.

HMS Hermes was built by Armstrong: Parsons, and launched 11th September 1919, HMS Hermes was the fist Royal navy aircraft Carrier designed as an aircraft carrier. HMS Hermes served in the home fleet in 1939, East Indies 1939 - 1942. She was sunk by the Japanese aircraft off Ceylon on the 9th April 1942.

Displacement 10,850 tons, top speed of 25 knots and carried 15 aircraft HMS Hermes had a compliment of 664 excluding aircrew.

HMS Ark Royal was built by Cammell Laird and launched on the 13th of April 1937. Displacement of 22,000 tons, had a top speed of 30.75 knots and carried 72 aircraft. HMS Ark Royal's complement was 1,575 men. She served in the home fleet and south Atlantic in 1939, Home fleet and Mediterranean 1940 and Force H 1941. on the 13th November 1941 she was torpedoed by U-81 in the western Mediterranean, and while under tow was lost the following day.
