The First Sea Lord Sir John Fisher in the opening years of the 20th century had reorganised much in the Royal Navy. He was the driving force in making a new partnership between the Royal Navy and the naval armaments industry.  Fishers slogan "Build First and Build Fast", each battleship better than the previous, culminating in 1906 with the first true Dreadnought, HMS Dreadnought powered by the Parsons steam turbine.
