![]() ![]() Sandy Sutherland MM *Signature Value : £40 | A regular soldier who enlisted on 6th June 1934 in the 1st Battalion Royal Scots at Dover. After training he was posted to the 2nd Battalion, then stationed in Lahore in the Punjab. He then saw active service on the North West Frontier. The Battalion was posted to Hong Kong in 1937. He fought in the Battle of Golden Hill on the Mainland and then at Wong Ho Chong Gap in which battle he was awarded the Military Medal. He was taken to Japan as a POW in 1942. After the war he was an instructor on weapons at Glencarse, Sandhurst and finally Dreghorn until in 1953 he rejoined the first Battalion. He served for a year in Korea, then in the Suez Canal Zone, finally returning to Elgin. He left the Army as a CQMS on the 6th June 1956 after exactly 22 years in the regiment. |
