Clipped Signature - Lord Harold Balfour of Inchyre.

Served with the 60th Rifles in France in 1914 before joining No.60 Sqn Royal Flying Corps. By 1917 he was flying the Sopwith one-and-a-half strutter with No.43 Sqn, claiming two victories. Injured in a crash and awarded the Military Cross, he returned to action claiming 5 victories plus 2 shared in early 1918 and was awarded a Bar to his MC. He was an MP from 1929 and then joined the House of Lords. He died in 1988.

Born in 1897, he served with the 60th Rifles in France in 1914 before joining the Royal Flying Corps. He initially joined No.60 Squadron but by 1917 was with No.43 Squadron flying the Sopwith one-and-a-half Strutter. He scored two victories in the space of a month in March to April 1917, but moved away from front line flying when he was injured in a crash. He was awarded his first Military Cross in May 1917. Returing to action with No.43 Sqn now equipped with Sopwith Camels, he claimed 5 victories plus 2 shared between 16th February and 12th March 1918. Awarded a Bar to his Military Cross, he then commanded a training school for the next year and retired from the Air Force in 1923. Elected as a Member of Parliament in 1929 until 1945, he the entered the House of Lords as Baron Balfour of Inchyre. He died on 21st September 1988.
