Don Redman was a signalman on HMS Amethyst at the time of the famed Yangtse Incident. He was on the bridge of the ship when a Chinese shell burst, killing nearly everyone on the bridge. Don was himself seriously wounded, and his life was saved by an RAF doctor (Michael Fearnley) who was flown in aboard a Sunderland flying boat.
